The Esdra estate came to life around a majestic villa of a fascinating architecture with an artistic and creative energy which add an element of sparkle to anyone’s stay. Angevin, Aragonese and papal influences are behind the fairytale estate set in a dream location: the Liri Valley surrounded by the Ausoni Mountains within the Aurunci National Park. This place, which feels as if it’s magically suspended, is also near beautiful sea towns and important cities. Indeed, the Esdra estate is only 30 km from Sperlonga, officially listed as one of the most beautiful Italian towns, and about 1 hour from Rome and Naples.
Ancient residence of Pontecorvo’s nobility until the area was ruled by the heirs of Joachim Marat (1815), the villa was acquired by the Votta family in 2008. With this property, the Vottas’ lifelong dream would finally become reality; they had the chance to create a place which combined beauty, nature, simplicity and tradition.
The estate extends itself over roughly sixteen hectares of land, largely dominated by secular oak trees, aromatic plants and cultivated terrain, enveloping the guesthouse in a gentle embrace which brings together captivating history and magnificent natural scenery.
Peace and tranquility make up the frame of an unforgettable wellness experience in a pristine place with a fragrance of history that feeds itself of modernity.
Agriculture, gastronomy, nature
The structure’s strong agricultural vocation is behind the rigorous cultivation of fruits and vegetables of the area, directly on the estate, all the while respecting the principles of sustainability and biodiversity.
The Votta family has dedicated itself in cultivating traditional crops of the Pontecorvo and lower Lazio territories, an area known for its unique characteristics which favor the cultivation of indigenous crops. In fact, the vast majority of the products found in our facility are produced by us.
We offer guided tours of our fields with workshops and educational walks themed around local products and farming methods.
Additionally, it is possible to purchase our agricultural goods directly on-site.
A radical choice. The estate’s restaurant’s enogastronomic philosophy leaves no room for interpretation, except for that of the Chef. Dishes are prepared almost exclusively with “zero kilometer” ingredients. In fact, since the menu varies with the changing of the seasons, the freshness and genuineness of the dishes are unparalleled. Here, tradition and fine dining become one.
Nature and Sports
With its twelve hectares of land, the estate offers an abundance of plants and secular oak trees that make up the beautifully lush landscape. In this magnificent setting, sports lovers can enjoy some horseback riding, long walks, bike rides, and jogging sessions with a personal trainer, on paths created within the property exactly for this purpose. During the summer, yoga and aerobic classes are given on the outdoor terrace, in addition to the activities that are held in the outdoor pool.
You adore the summer time, but the thought of having to drive several kilometers to reach a seaside destination scares you? Choose Esdra, synonymous of total relaxation: even guests who are not staying with us overnight can spend a half or a full day at our outdoor pool. Along with the gift of the setting’s beauty, Esdra pampers you with sun beds, towel kits, drinks and fresh fruit by the pool.
